FREEDOM

Posted on May 18th, 2006 by ShibShakti : tantrik ShibShakti

For last couple of years i ( the small 'i' is intentional, as i always want to feel that this manifested form of 'i' is a part of we... the universe ... so no use making it cap) have been trying to see through the veil put by all new-world institutional religions, curbing freedom of human being - making the entire race a robotic one.

It is useless to debate why it has been so, whether by compulsion of societal living or by design of the lazy but intelligent sect to overpower the herd or as a part of evolution leading towards extinction of human as a race. It is rather important to find out the ways and means to enjoy life to the fullest, as was meant by the nature for all its manifested forms, while mastering the survival skills in the man-made world - a world separate than the nature made for all the beings, a world based on personal possession.

Slowly i shall put here whatever bits of information i have gathered so far from different sources. i am convinced to a great extent that the ancient forms of natural religion, practiced by so called primitives, are in fact the way to freedom.

In the present times, however, we have an added advantage of more security than that enjoyed by our ancient ancestors. But since one security is to be compromised with one freedom, we have to strike a balance individually for ourselves.

i would like to have the views of all the members of Zaadz on this issue - as i feel, primarily, all the members here became members as they FELT that something is wrong with the present world order and it needs be changed.

Co-operation has made human the master of this world but at the cost of individualism.

Everyone of us, in our childhood, have heard stories -theme of which is more or less that if one is prepared to barter the soul, the Satan will arrange for all the material pleasures. In the childhood it appears to be quite a cool deal. While growing up, however, we are taught to know better than that, taught to preserve our souls - but in the manner as the Satan himself desires and it is mostly too late, for even the few who finds out, that the Satan is none other than the society itself!

The society has been thriving for about last 5-6 thousand years at the cost of humanity - at the cost of mutating the whole race into a robotic one. Had the ‘love' the institutional religions preach  not been so uninspiring and hollow as they are, there would not have been so much hatred and violence in this world. The love they insist upon is unnatural and thus not spontaneous. Human have failed to create a world for themselves with a different kind of love than that prescribed by the nature.

Philosophers worth the name, all over the world, agree that the most important thing in life is to live ‘here and now'. At the same time, it cannot be denied that in order to live in the present, the society compels us to constantly live in the past for lessons and to plan for the future to survive.

In the present day world, we therefore, have no choice than to live in duality - with one foot in the real world outside with all its chaos for survival while keeping the other foot within one's own self for living ‘here and now'. It is useless to insist upon integration of these two existences for the simple reason that more and more one involves him/herself with the mad world outside, more and more s/he strays away from the path of self-realisation.

One philosopher of China (ref. DAO DE ZING 'the book of change') once said ‘Those who know don't speak and those who speak don't know'. We find trainloads of books, wagonloads of visuals, tera-tetrabites of texts about methods of self-realisation - most of which prescribe the magic potion keeping the world order as it is or even with inbuilt provisions to further the interest of the possession based society. This is nothing but an oxymoron since self-realisation cannot come following any order based on possession while the so-called civilization's main driving force is possession.

Self-realisation cannot be learnt by any amount of reading or hearing - it can only be felt and it has to be felt by doing and the doing has to be by the individual.

It is a fact that our faculties are limited. It is common knowledge that we have access to only a limited spectrum of the energies which are in play in this universe. It can also not be denied that however strong is the description, no amount of text or visual can equal the feeling that one can have about anything. A menu-card can never come anywhere near the taste of eating the food.

The society has developed certain tools for converging the senses, a few methods designed apparently for living here and now - like the hollow religious rituals, music, art, books, movies etc. But all of these are but children's toys or at best a caricature of the original as most of these implements try to lead to a pseudo-spiritual state. These implements are not capable of acheiving more than this for the reason that all of them are products of the possession based society - for the reason that most of these are made by the people who advocate in favour of the possession based world and for the reason that these are made for the people who unquestioningly inhabit this possession based world to live a life as a herd animal.

The society doesn't let us converge all our senses individually at our own time. Exceptions are those of us who enjoy a comparatively more economic freedom and can afford to build a world of our own even after paying all the dues to the society for our day to day living. These lucky few can attempt to pursue ‘ye harm none, do whatever ye like'. But even in the advanced countries, in the comparatively more permissive societes, they fall prey to egocentrism while practicing living in a personalalized manner.

To make situations conducive to let one do whatever one likes should have been the goal of civilization. Nature made each one of us differently for the enjoyment of the manifested world in all those different ways. And that is what the freedom is all about!

But even one of the basic freedoms is denied to most of the human race. In order to converge our faculties of senses so that the maximum of what is perceivable can be perceived, the nature gave human the greatest tool - sex. This was given to all without any discrimination. This is the tool by which any two consenting persons can communicate with each other inspite of any of the human-made barriers of cast, creed, wealth, religion, language. And communication is the first step of loving. We let the society ration this best boon of nature for the commercial cancerous development of the society, euphemistically called civilization.

We let this happen at the cost of our easiest and simplest means of self-realisation.Unlike other manifested forms, only the human is capable of living ‘here and now', converging all its senses at a given moment while they are engaged in a kind of sexual union which is not aimed at creation of offsprings. Before the institutionalized religions took over, the human race attained a stupendous height of spiritualism by practicing spiritual sex. In fact our ancestors knew that when sexual act is practiced without any goal - neither procreation, nor even the orgasmic pleasure, when the act is just ‘being' there with all the senses converged, when the maleness and femaleness of both the partners interplay without any goal of whatever kind - the practitioners start feeling at one with ‘Brahmma'. What they feel can only be known by practicing the act - not by reading or listening to any kind of description. It is a pity that in permissible societies we use the concept of spiritual-sex for merely lengthening the time of sex-play and are content with the husk.

i would refer to some of the sources dealing with the ancient practice.

Tantra, whose technique is different, prescribes the discipline of sublimation. Physical man and woman, floating along the outgoing current of the cosmic process, are, no doubt, different from each other, but by means of the return current they can be sublimated into cosmic principles and realized as the one whole, that is, Shiva-Shakti. In reversing the outgoing current, the aspirant has to "bring together" the complements or poles so as to realize their identity; thus the physical union of man and woman is sublimated into the creative union of Shiva-Shakti. The left-hand path of Tantra under certain very stringent conditions prescribes to the aspirant, or sadhaka, belonging to the "heroic" type to be described later, spiritual disciplines of ritualistic readjustment with woman, and shows how to sublimate the so-called "carnal" act gradually until the experience of the supreme non-dual Shiva-Shakti with its perfect bliss is attained. The technique is to make the very same carnal desire which constitutes the strongest fetter of the animal man an "opening" or channel for the experience of Satchidananda. If the right track is followed and all the conditions are fulfilled, the aspirant succeeds in his endeavor.

Do not believe anything
because it is said by an authority,
or if it is said to come from angels,
or from Gods,
or from an inspired source.

Believe it only if you have explored it
in your own heart
and mind and body
and found it to be true.

Work out your own path,
through diligence.

Gautama Buddha

Excerpt from The Book of Understanding OSHO

In the past, all over the world, people were pagans -- simple nature-worshippers. There was no concept of sin, there was no question of guilt. Life was accepted as it is. There was no evaluation, no interpretation -- reason had not interfered yet.

The moment reason starts interfering, condemnation comes in. The moment reason enters, division starts and man becomes split. Then you start condemning something in your being -- one part becomes higher, another part becomes lower, and you lose balance. But this had to happen; reason had to come in, this is part of growth. As it happens to every child, it had to happen to the whole of humanity too.

When the child is born he is a pagan. Each child is a born pagan, he is happy the way he is. He has no idea what is right and what is wrong; he has no ideals. He has no criteria, he has no judgment. Hungry, he asks for food. Sleepy, he falls asleep. That's what Zen masters say is the utmost in religiousness -- when hungry eat, when feeling sleepy go to sleep. Let life flow; don't interfere.

As the pace of cultural change continues to accelerate, driven to a great degree by technological advances, it seems that the basic understanding of human life is also shifting. For example, recent archeological discoveries are beginning to shake the standard Western story of human history. A growing number of more open-minded archeologists and historians are beginning to question and rethink the traditional Judeo-Christian historical story. Improved technology has enabled archeologists to make remarkable discoveries over the last 10-15 years. The finding of more ancient "cities under cities" from the Mediterranean Sea to Southeast Asia have begun to reveal a pattern that describes a previously unknown culture. By examining tools, art, buildings, etc. the researchers have clarified a picture of a sophisticated culture that defies one of our most commonly held human myths - that humans are warlike by nature. Centered in India/Pakistan and stretching across Asia and the middle East, the "Dravidian" culture lasted roughly from 6000 to 3000 BC without war(!).

........

Now, a thousand years later, the west is experiencing yet another sexual revolution and with it many of the ancient traditions, rituals, techniques, and meditations are again re-emerging. An increasing number of people are beginning to awaken to a deep desire for integration of their sexuality with a personal spirituality.

....

True Tantra was known to be a deep, profoundly intent path of sacred inner alchemy. This level of Tantra is rarely understood or appreciated in a modern culture whose primary fascination is with the sexual practices of Tantra, usually taken out of (the spiritual, primary) context.

....

When we are in balance, and Shiva consciousness and Shakti energy are integrated, there will be continuous inner alchemy - a natural, effortless, endless, pulse-like weaving of stillness/quiet/being with action/expression/doing.
